Coach: Bob McCormick

Assistant Coach:  Don Hatcher
Assistant Coach:  Rob Weaver

Bob McCormick is a co-founder and charter coach of the Fairfax Stars Basketball program.  Bob collected high school honors playing football, basketball, and baseball in high school.  He played football and basketball in college while pursuing a professional baseball career.

Bob is considered to be one of the premier basketball skills development coaches in the greater DC area, and is a featured instructor at Fairfax Stars clinics.  Skills development has been at the heart of his and the Stars programs’ coaching philosophy. He firmly believes higher skilled players win at every level, and that it should be a focus of team preparation.

Bob has been national level basketball coach for over 20 yrs, and his teams have been among the most successful in the nation.  Since the formation of the Stars program11 years ago, his Fairfax Stars teams have won more Regional gold and silver medals than competing programs’ combined.  His teams have  qualified for AAU nationals every year, and he has had 6 teams reach the AAU National “Sweet 16”, 5 teams the “Top 10”, 4 teams the “Top 5”, and won AAU National Championships in 1998 and 2008.  Bob was inducted into the Fairfax Stars’ Hall of Fame in 2006.

At Bob’s side for all of his Fairfax Stars teams’ has been assistant Head coach and 2008 Fairfax Stars’ Hall of Famer, Don Hatcher.  Together they form one of the most successful coaching staff’s in America.

Bob’s teams have always played fast break basketball on offense and full court pressure defense. This years’ team will be no exception to that style.  College exposure and college skills preparation will be the focus of the team, and the team will attend and compete in the nation’s premier showcase events against the nation’s most competitive programs.

Coach Rob Weaver is currently the head girl’s varsity coach at Brentsville District High School located in Prince William County. He spent two years as the head girl’s varsity coach at Emmanuel Christian School, which prior to that he was the head junior varsity girl’s coach at Potomac SHS.  He has been an assistant coach with the freshman and junior varsity boy’s teams for several years at Potomac SHS and assistant varsity boy’s coach with Woodbridge SHS.

Coach Weaver was the chairperson for the Prince William County Basketball Committee for the past 10 years, which was comprised of the Prince William Pacers (boys) and Prince William Virginians (girls). He had been with the program since 1995, first as an assistant coach with the boy’s 16/u team then the next two years as the head coach for the 17/u teams, qualifying for the nationals each year. While serving in the capacity of chairperson with PWCBBC he continued to coach several boys and girls teams within the organization.

Bob is very much looking forward to the 2009 season, and he can be reached via email at bmccormick70@hotmail.com.
