Coach Dix and his talented staff create practice plans that focus on skill development and helping players improve their knowledge of the game of basketball. He stresses academic achievement as key to a bright future. He believes in hard work and being a great teammate in an environment of positive reinforcement and fun. Coach Dix encourages all of the student-athletes that play for him to strive for excellence…both on and off the court!

Coach Bob Dix is an experienced basketball coach, having served as both a Head Coach and an Assistant Coach at theCounty League, High School, AAU, and Showcase level. He has also coached youth football and baseball during his volunteer coaching career.

He has coached with the Fairfax Stars since the program was launched in 1996 and began competition in 1997. During his Fairfax Stars coaching career, teams he has coached or helped coach have won multiple Potomac Valley AAU Championships and received invitations to the AAU Division I National Championship tournament 13 times. Those teams have finished in the top 5 in the nation ten times, including three AAU Division I National Championships, a national championship runner-up, and three 3rd place national finishes.

His teams have also won numerous other tournaments, including a USJN National Championship and just last summer captured the championship of the prestigious Nike Nationals Invitational tournament in North Augusta, South Carolina at the end of July to close the 2015 summer showcase season.

Teams Coach Dix has coached or assisted have finished top 5 in the nation ten times, including three AAU Division I National Championships.

Many of his players have gone on to play high level college basketball and several are currently playing in the WNBA.

Coach Dix along with Coach McCormick have developed an extensive network with college coaches around the country and earned a well deserved reputation as one of the top showcase programs in America.

Coach Dix has coached at the U15 / 10th Grade Girls Elite level the past several years, and his teams have been among the best in the country and have competed against the best in the country, including being the only Nike team in the DMV invited to the prestigious Nike Nationals Invitational at the end of the showcase season to compete in front of 700+ college coaches.

2015 was another great year as in addition to winning Nike Nationals, his team also advanced to the championship game of the 2015 10th Grade Gold AAU Super Showcase tournament in Orlando, Florida, and won the Silver Division Championship of the Battle in the Boro in Nashville, Tennessee.

The 2014 season saw a new team assembled to compete against the best teams and players in the nation. With a great practice and training regimen, the team hit the road in July and played well, finishing strong at the Battle of the Boro and competed with high intensity at Nike Nationals in North Augusta, South Carolina to close the season.

2013 was another great year with the team compiling a 48 – 11 record and competed in the top tournaments in the country during the July showcase period. In most tournaments, the team played against competition a year older.

In 2012, Coach Dix was privileged to coach the U15 Elite Premier Showcase team. The team played in the top tournaments and against the top teams in America. In most of the tournaments they played, the team competed a year up in the U16 bracket. For the season, the team went 52 – 6, and played in 5 NCAA-certified showcase tournaments, four during the evaluation period in the month of July, playing in front of hundreds of college coaches.

They went 23 – 6 in those tournaments, including advancing to the championship game of the Nike Boo Williams Invitational; quarterfinals of the U16 Silver AAU Super Showcase in Orlando; quarterfinals of the Nike Summer Showcase in Chicago; semifinals of the USJN National Championship in Washington, DC; and quarterfinals of the prestigious Nike Nationals Invitational in North Augusta, South Carolina to close the season.

During the 2011 season, Bob coached the Fairfax Stars U13 Girls Premier Showcase team. For the season, the team went 64 – 8, including finishing as runner-up in the U14 Division at the Nike Boo Williams Invitational; claiming 3rd at the AAU Division I National Championship tournament; 2nd at the AAU Super Showcase; and finishing their season by winning the 2011 U. S. Junior Nationals U14 Division National Championship. For the 2010 & 2011 seasons, his team went 131 – 12, playing older age group teams in the majority of their games and claiming numerous tournament championships.

The 2010 AAU/Travel season was magical as Coach Dix was privileged to coach the Fairfax Stars U12 Girls National team that won the 2010 12 & Under Girls AAU Division I National Championship in Rochester, Minnesota. For the season, the team went 67 – 4 and also included winning the 2010 Nike Midwest Showdown tournament in the U14 Division over Memorial Day weekend in Ohio.

The 2015 U15 / 10th Grade Girls Nike EYBL team will again compete in some of the top tournaments in the country, playing a national showcase schedule that will provide college exposure opportunities and conclude with the prestigious Nike Nationals Invitational tournament at the end of July.
